Brewing And Malting Enzymes

Brewing is the production of alcoholic beverages through fermentation. The conventional brewing process for beer involves the conversion of starch present in the barley into simple sugars, which is used by yeast for further conversion into alcohol and carbon dioxide.
Due to recent technological advancements, the concept of enzymes in brewing has been adopted worldwide. The use of exogenous enzymes in the brewing process has the following advantages,

  • Gives brewmasters flexibility in choice of raw materials
  • Provides opportunity to create new products
  • Improves overall beer quality
  • Makes the brewing process easier, faster and consistent
